DESCRIPTION:
The lighting sculpture is named ‘emergence’, and with playful relevance to Caviar House, captures the re-imagined movement of a school of fish moving underwater.
It is a sculptural expression of the fascinating light patterns and shimmers that emerge across the collective bodies of fish as they move in harmony within water whilst reflecting the natural sunlight. This is physically manifested as a kinetic moment frozen in space and time, and re-animated through cutting-edge interactive digital lighting.
DETAIL:
From the first brainstorming sessions to the signing off, I worked across each part of the project. Once the design was finalised and tooling of 500 individual components had been made, I assisted at the carbon fibre facilities preparing the composite and running electronics for dry run tests.
I passed all health and safety, behaviour, harness, and boom lift operating tests as I was working at heights of 15 metres pre installation.
When on-site I worked alongside colleagues, fabricators, engineers, and contractors until the sculpture was completed.
The project won:
Best Decorative Installation at Darc Awards
Best Lighting of the Year at Retail Week Interiors
Special Projects at Lighting Design Awards.
