DESCRIPTION:

Referencing some of the techniques employed in his smaller scale artworks, baby shimmer is a physical amplification of the studio’s fascination with the role of the viewer and their interaction with colour, light and movement.

The colour shifting volumes of light respond to the movement of the viewer. In an era in which our lives are becoming increasingly digitised, the ultra-low-resolution pixilation of shifting colour presented within the installation harks back to simpler times of less resolution and lower fidelity.

I produced with colleagues the prototyping of the light through 3D printed components. Exploring quick multiples of LED housings, threads, and fixings.

The spun aluminium bowls were fabricated outside our workshop. Once received I machined, trimmed, and sanded them ready to be assembled with internal parts and glass. This was a delicate piece that undertook meticulous inspection of parts.
