DESCRIPTION:

The shimmer artworks play on the skill of manipulating colours and light, but in a departure from many of the pieces interactive feel of the piece is achieved without any sensors or electronics.

Instead it is simply the viewing angle of the observer that control the spectacular magical appearance of the piece. Selecting opposing colours of the dichroic glass for the piece means creating a variable shifting palette where directly viewed and reflected light create the alluring shimmering appearance of the piece.

Using the experience gained in past glass manufacturing processes and bonding visiting fabricators we took a similar approach along with in-house CNC work and 3D printed methods which I used to house internal parts.

I built safe crates for the delicate parts and cataloged the glass for storage. I would be on-site at exhibitions to install the work or at a private residence once sold.
